This mixed-media piece will be in the Metro Montage X show at the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art. A bit of experimenting here with oil painting, photography, pastel and colored pencil. Quite a mix.
I did this painting for no particular reason other than having a little fun with painting on a different surface - a corrugated box top. The apples were painted/drawn on the indentations of tuna cans. Then I saw a juried competition "Eye of the Beholder: The Art of the Found Object," and entered the painting. I was pleased to see it was accepted and also to see that the sponsor, the Maryland Federation of Art, used it on their promotional pieces announcing the show. Another lesson in the fact that art can be done on "anything." And also that art is indeed "in the eye of the beholder."
I will be at the Virginia-Highlands Summerfest this weekend. Saturday, 10-6:30 and Sunday, 11-6:0. A great festival in a fantastic neighborhood with lots of artists, jewelry makers, music and some suds if you desire.
I will have two paintings in the upcoming "The Nature of Landscape and Still Life" show at dk Gallery on the square in Marietta. This is a wonderful gallery with fantastic artists. This is one of the paintings I will have in the show. The opening is this Friday, June 4th, from 6 - 9:00. They will have live Jazz and there will be a lot going on that night on the square....artists market in the alley behind the gallery.
